Special Considerations for Granulation
TEMPRIS is an innovative, reliable and simple method for real time temperature measurement during granulation processes.
Special considerations for mixing processes demonstrated on a specific project:

- Project goal:
Automatic online monitoring of product temperature for process control and endpoint determination in a granulation mixer.
- Previous method:
Hand operated temperature measurement with the disadvantage of necessary process interruption and high failure probability. Up to now no real time data available. Other approaches such as slip rings or infrared monitoring failed because of specific reliability problems, product and facility characteristics as well as of cost considerations.
- Solution:
The TEMPRIS sensors are mounted on the rotor blades of the granulator. Thus they permanently run through the product mixture. Inside the barrel you only find the wireless and battery-free TEMPRIS sensors. The measured data are collected by an external antenna and processed by the TEMPRIS control unit. The collected data are fed into a standard computer system and/or a specific user control device (SPS, control unit etc.) to perform data evaluation, visualization and real time process control. iQ-mobil’s visualization software supports to interpret and analyse the collected data.
- Results:
TEMPRIS is a PAT (Process Analysis Techniques) tool to define a robust process and is suited to investigate the design space. The process yields a reproducible product with defined characteristics. Thereby TEMPRIS enables the user to perform real time release.
